How can I adjust the stem?

The Satori stem riser can be adjusted up to 70mm up and down, and the stem angle can be further adjusted to your comfort as well. Check out this handy video or contact us for help.

Can I transport my bike on vehicle hitch mounted bike racks?

Yes. Your bike can be mounted on different available carrier systems such THULE. Make sure that the racks can sustain the weight of the LODEN One and accommodate the large tires.

How much does the bike weigh?

The bike with the battery mounted weighs 26 kg. For more information, download the complete specs here.

Does the bike have any lights?

Yes. The LODEN One comes with a white front light and a red rear light powered by the e-bike battery. To turn the lights on and off, press the headlight button on the right side of the computer display.

Does the bike come with a lock?

Yes. An ABUS Frame Lock comes with every bike. This lock is attached to the bike frame and allows you to lock the rear wheel, preventing it from spinning. The bike’s battery is also locked, using the same key as the ABUS Frame Lock. We always recommend using an additional lock, like the ABUS Chain Lock or a u-lock, to secure the bike to a fixed object.

Do I need a driver license or insurance to operate your bike?

No. The LODEN One is a Class 1 electric bike, which means that in most places it is legally considered the same as a regular bicycle, so neither a driver’s license nor insurance are required. However, laws regarding pedal-assisted e-bikes vary from country to country and place to place. Please consult local regulations before riding your bike.

I have seen e-bikes that sell for as little as 1.000 €, why does the LODEN One cost more?

The LODEN One is built with with high-quality, durable components to help the bike last longer and be more reliable. Most inexpensive e-bikes use cheap electric motor systems, but we pride ourselves in using the Shimano STEPS system, so you can be sure of its dependability and durability. The LODEN One also features a cutting-edge new drivetrain system using Gates Carbon Drive belt and Shimano Inter-5E internal hub gears which provide smooth and nearly silent shifting with little to no maintenance.

What is the ideal tire pressure?

The LODEN One comes with Schwalbe Big Ben Plus tires, which should be inflated to 30 to 55 PSI (2 – 4 bar). The best and safest way to inflate a bicycle tire to the correct pressure is with a hand or foot bicycle pump which has a built-in pressure gauge.

Where can I get a copy of the Owner’s Manual?

For the current 2021 model of the LODEN One, please download the LODEN Owner’s Manual here.

Shimano E-Bike-System

How far can I go on a single charge?

The battery range varies depending on several factors: cargo loads, rider weight, assist mode, terrain, etc. According to Shimano, you can expect to go 65 km per charge on High mode, 80 km per charge on Normal mode, and up to 100 km per charge on Eco mode. For more information, see the Shimano E6100 overview here.

How long does the battery take to charge?

From 0%, it takes 2.5 h for an 80% charge and 5 h for a 100% charge.

How do I charge the battery?

The bike comes with the EC-6002 charger that you can connect to any 100-240 V AC, 50-60 Hz outlet. You can either connect the charger directly to battery while mounted on the bike, or remove the battery and charge it on its own.

How long can I expect the battery to last?

Shimano STEPS utilizes a long-life battery to maintain sufficient output, even after 1000 full charging cycles. It has been designed with year-round conditions in mind to exhibit the performance necessary in both the heat and the cold. After 1000 cycles, performance will decline but the battery will still be usable.

Can I buy extra batteries?

If you ever need to buy an extra battery, please contact us directly or find a Shimano dealer near you.

What is a mid-drive motor?

A mid-drive motor powers the crank of the bike directly, giving you a smooth boost with each pedaling motion. The system features three sensors: speed, cadence, and torque, all working together to give you the most performance when you most need it. Additionally, the mid drive motor is located in the lowest point of the frame, ensuring a lower center of gravity and more balanced weight distribution for stable handling.

Can I accelerate using a manually operated throttle?

The LODEN One is a Class 1 e-bike, which means that it does not have a manual throttle to accelerate. Class 1 e-bikes receive motor assist only when pedaled, and the motor assistance cuts off at 20 mph as required by law.

Do I need to pedal?

Yes! Our electric motor gives you a “pedal assist” that provides you with necessary push to ride faster and with less effort. Plus, since your legs are providing the propulsion, you have more control over the bike, which is especially important if you are carrying heavy loads. These type of bikes are sometimes referred to as “pedelecs” and the great news is that you’ll still get a nice workout as you pedal!

How fast does it go?

The Shimano E6100 motor will provide you pedaling assistance up to the legal limit of 25 km/h. However, the bike can go faster than 25 km/h down hills or with significant pedaling effort.

Can I ride this electric bike in the rain?

Yes. Our bikes, battery, and electric system are designed to ride in the rain without any problems. But please do not submerge the bicycle in water or use high-pressure sprayers to clean the bike. Remember to ride safely whenever it is wet!

Carrying Cargo

What is the permissible total weight?

This is 162 kg.

Can I load cargo in the front and rear racks without a basket or platform?

Our front rack is designed to work ONLY with an attached LODEN Platform, Small Basket, or Big Basket. The bike is NOT designed to be ridden without a front platform or basket. Our rear rack, however, can carry cargo without any attached basket or platform.

Can I use any of your baskets on the rear and front racks?

Yes. The LODEN modular cargo system was designed to allow you to use either of the LODEN baskets or LODEN platform in the front or on the integrated LODEN rear rack, allowing you to customize the bike to your needs.

Can I use third-party basket on your racks?

Our custom baskets are designed to be used with our racks; our bike is not designed to accommodate third party baskets.

Can I put panniers on the rear rack?

Yes, we designed our rear rack to be compatible with many cargo-carrying accessories. The rear rack’s side tubes are 14 mm in diameter, so any panniers or other accessories will need to be compatible with that size.

Can I attach a trailer to the bike?

CERO bicycles are compatible with many bike trailers that can be mounted using the kickstand mounting holes on the chainstay. Follow all instructions and load limits provided by the trailer manufacturer. We have also tested out Thule’s Chariot axle-mounted trailer on our bike and it works well.

Can I transport another adult on the front or rear racks?

No. The LODEN One cargo areas are designed to carry a wide variety of cargo loads, but not adults. The bike is only designed to carry one child (up to 22 kg) on a Yepp Maxi child seat mounted on the rear rack.

Are your bikes compatible with child seats?

Yes. The LODEN One’s rear rack is designed to fit the Yepp Maxi child seat without the need for any adapter.

About CERO Bikes

Why is the CERO One called LODEN in Europe?

Due to trademarks, CERO had to be named differently in Europe. Apart from the name, both bikes are 100% identical.

What does the name CERO mean?

“CERO” means the number zero in Spanish. CERO is proud to build cargo bicycles that produce zero emissions and help people reduce their carbon footprint.

Why does LODEN cost more in Europe than it does in the USA?

One of the main reasons: There is no VAT for pedelecs in the USA. Additionally there are customs and higher shipping fees to consider.

Where are LODEN bikes manufactured?

Our bike frames, racks, and baskets are manufactured by hand at one of the top bike manufacturers in Taiwan. Final assembly, quality control, tuning, testing, and certification are also completed by certified professionals in Taiwan. Taiwan is world-renowned in the bike industry for the quality of their work and our partners have been producing bicycles for top brands for many decades.
